Dessert Wines

993 Firestone Riesling Late Harvest Excellent $14

1993 Hogue Riesling Late Harvest Excellent $6

Hogue LH Riesling deserves special attention

It is dificult to get peolple to try Riesling, even though it is one of the finest grapes in the world. It is even harder to get them to try a Late Harvest Riesling. It is the sweetness they fear, and that is a shame.

Unlike Riunite or other cloyingly sweet wines, this is a lightly sweet wine, perfect with lunch or a spicy dinner. It is an outrageous value and you really should try it. If you just can't get past the Late Harvest name (although I swear it is not really a dessert wine) try Hogue's excellent Dry Riesling.
