The names of the Great Growth Chateaux beckon to you. Alas very few of them are easy for the public to get into.

You are much more likely to find the gates of such estates as Chateau Margaux to be firmly closed against outside world.

 

 

 

 

 

Bordeaux Soil

 

The vineyards themselves have no gates or fences to stop you from enjoying them. Here you can see the gravel that has made its way to the surface. Beneath this rich soil are deep beds of gravel, facilitating drainage, one of the quality factors of Bordeaux. (This is Ch. Margaux's vineyards)
